If anyone got to see our first two shows in October, they got to see us do our electric chair routine. This is a real electric chair that puts out over 20,000 volts. We blew a dimmer pack at the stage the second night that we performed. We did it again in November and this time it broke.
What happened was the capacitors blew in it.
There are two 15,000 volt capacitors in the electronics of the chair.
They come from China and are not the cheapest things to buy, and extremely hard to find here in the US.
But for the Fringe Show, I wanted to bring back the chair. So I ordered two new capacitors.
They came and I hooked them up, and it started working beautifully.
But I figured, more than likely only one of the capacitors blew and one was still good.
So I hooked one up with the two new ones and got nothing... there is the bad one.
So then I hooked the other up and now I must say...
This electric chair is putting out more electricity than it ever has.
The coronas coming off this thing are frightening!
